| Gina Carey Wins The Deserts 2012 Jazz Artist Award On Wednesday April 11, 2012, Gico Music recording artist Gina Carey won the Rising Stars of the Desert 2012 Music Video Competition and was awarded the Marker Broadcasting 2012 Jazz Music artist Award. This prestigious award was presented to Gina Carey at the Marker Broadcasting's Inaugural in the Fantasy Springs Casino Lit Lounge in Indio California. This was the first "Rising Stars of the Desert Music Video competition". This grand event was spearheaded by Marker Broadcastings New Media Director, Meg Penfield Marker. Gina Carey was chosen as one of the 8 finalist chosen out of 90 original music video submissions. There were 4 categories in which artist would be selected, Jazz, Pop, Rock & Country. The celebrity guest Judge Panel included, Tom Baldrica, former VP Sony Music Nashville & president of Average Joe's Entertainment, Bonnie Marquez, of GOLDENVOICE marketing in Los Angeles, CA & Marker Broadcasting talent & management. Two finalists were selected from each category to perform at the Marker Broadcastings Listeners appreciation Party. Each finalist performed 2 songs live on stage as the packed crowd cheered them on. At the end of the night, Gina Carey was one of the 3 artists to be awarded one of the elegant star studded crystal trophies. In addition, winners of each category will be announced on air April 12, 2012 and played on the radio in the categories that represent their genres. Gina will be played on KJJZ 102.3. The Radio station who participated in The Rising Stars of The Desert Music Video Competition are KPLM 106.1 for the Country Winner, KJJZ 102.3 jazz, for the Jazz Winner, THE HEAT 99.5 rock, for the rock winner, and, THE OASIS 95.9 pop/oldies for the pop/ oldies winner. Other sponsors included, Fantasy Springs Resort Casino, Palm Springs Fiat, Cathedral City, Cindy Pieper's State Farm Insurance, Southwest Pluming, McMahon's RV, Fan Distro Music, KPLM 106.1, KJJZ 102.3, THE HEAT 99.5, and THE OASIS 95.9. In 1996 Gina Carey was #1 on the UK Charts with her first CD " In His Time, In 2006, Gina Carey was nominated in 2 categories for the Las Vegas Black Music Award, Best Gospel performer & Gospel Rising Star and won the title " Best Gospel Female Performer" at the Cashman Theatre in Las Vegas California, In 2011 Gina Carey made the #1 spot once again on the top 30 UK Soul Charts with her 2011 CD " Melodic" in which she wrote, arranged & composed. Melodic was produced by her husband "The Urban Soul Guitarists "John Carey" & Also received the prestigious honored of her CD being chosen by Soul Brother Records, one of the largest Record stores in the UK as on of the best Soul Albums of the year 2011 along with her husband John Carey being named as one of the best Smooth Jazz Albums of the year with his last CD " New Beginnings", Gina Carey has recently reentered the UK Soul Charts the week of Saint Patrick's Day and is quickly climbing with her new CD " Love Letters" all written, arranged, composed, & produced by Gina. And now Gina Carey is now 2012 Jazz Music Artist the winner of the Marker Broadcasting Rising Stars of the Desert Music Video Competition. So what's next for Gina Carey? She's currently working on writing & Producing a new CD project in which she plans to release by the end of this summer of 2012 entitled, "Live, Laugh & Love" .This CD will be a dedication to her father the late "Mr. Eugene Harrison" who went home to be with the Lord on March, 17, 2012.
