| "Most Innovative Improvising Rock Group" Play LA's House of Blues, March 16 Umphrey's McGee, today's "most innovative improvising rock group" (Relix), will bring their shape-shifting brand of experimental rock 'n roll to the House of Blues in West Hollywood on Friday, March 16. Umphrey's will perform their latest single "Booth Love" and other songs from their explosive new album 'Death By Stereo' (ATO), as well as a wide variety of classics, rarities, and covers. The Chicago sextet, whose "stream-of-consciousness playing" is compared to John Coltrane and Ornette Coleman in this month's Relix cover story, is on the road through the summer, including their third annual UMBowl, one of the most unique and interactive events in all of live music. Consequence of Sound said the band's recent shows are evidence that the band is "able to produce high-quality, often transcendent shows on a consistent basis" and Village Voice praised the group for its "impeccable playing and pristine arrangements." WHO: Umphrey's McGee - Brendan Bayliss (guitar, vocals), Joel Cummins (keyboard, vocals), Ryan Stasik (bass guitar), Jake Cinninger (guitar, vocals), Kris Myers (drums, vocals) and Andy Farag (percussion).
