| Jack Petruzzelli Co-Produces New Joan Osborne Blues Covers CD Guitarist/keyboardist/producer Jack Petruzzelli continues his long collaborative relationship with multi-platinum artist Joan Osborne, as he co-produces Osborne's upcoming March 27th Blues covers CD 'Bring it on Home. The collection of vintage blues, R&B and soul songs was recorded live in the Waterfront Studios in Hudson, NY by engineer Henry Hirsch (Lenny Kravitz), who used an original 3M 24 track tape machine to recreate the warm analog sound of the era. Guest musicians include Barbecue Bob Pomeroy (harmonica), Allen Toussaint (piano on his own "Shoorah! Shoorah!") and vocalists the Holmes Brothers and Rufus Thomas' daughter, Vaneese Thomas. Jimmy Vivino, musical director on TBS-TV's CONAN show, assembled all horn arrangements and also played wurlitzer piano on "I Don't Need No Doctor." In addition to co-producing with Osborne, Petruzzelli plays guitar on the album. He comments: "My history with Joan goes back to 1988 - When we first started playing together, it was blues, R&B and some originals. During those years, New York City was full of clubs with great bands. It was nostalgic and refreshing to be playing this music again on 'Bring it on Home'." 'Bring it on Home' includes tracks originally made famous by American blues masters such as Sonny Boy Williamson ("Bring it on Home"), Muddy Waters ("I Want to Be Loved"), as well as recordings originally released by some of the greatest R&B singers ever including Ray Charles ("I Don't Need No Doc") Jack Petruzzelli is a respected musician who has toured and recorded with some of the most celebrated artists in the industry. In addition to a long-standing relationship with Osborne, he has collaborated with Patti Smith, Ian Hunter and Rufus Wainwright, and is well known as a founding member of The Fab Faux. More about Joan Osborne: Joan Osborne is recognized worldwide as a formidable talent in music. An acclaimed multi-platinum recording artist and an eight-time Grammy Award nominee, she has performed and collaborated with Bob Dylan, the Grateful Dead, Stevie Wonder, Luciano Pavarotti, the Dixie Chicks and many others. write your comments about the article :: © 2012 Jazz News :: home page |
