| SA blues legend Dan Patlansky brings 20 Stones of raw rock to The Lyric Dan Patlansky, South Africa's legendary blues and rock guitarist, is celebrating the unleashing of his new album with a special once-off gig at The Lyric Theatre at Gold Reef City Casino on 29 March. The talented young bluesman known for his legendary prowess with his six-string Fender Stratocaster, showcases a different side of his sound on the new album '20 Stones' by introducing, Dan Patlansky, the voice. The new record blends Patlansky's raw, ragged voice with his incendiary guitar work to create a soulful sound that nails modern blues to old time Rock 'n Roll. Patlansky's 20 Stones is a labour of love, weaved together by Dan and some of the best musicians in the industry. The album was recorded at Sumo Sound Johannesburg by Peter Auret and was mixed by the brilliant Theo Crous at Belville Studios in Cape Town. The gifted team that had a hand in the production of '20 Stones' does not end there. It was mastered by Reuben Cohen at Lurssen Mastering in Los Angeles. Theo Crous also appears as a guest musician, playing some Hammond organ and percussion on the album. '20 Stones' was produced by Dan Patlansky and Peter Auret. In only a little over a decade on the music scene, Dan Patlansky has become one of the busiest and most respected blues artists to ever come out of South Africa. His music can best be described as vacillating between the filthy blues of Stevie Ray Vaughan and the psychedelic sound of Jimi Hendrix – fire encased in ice. write your comments about the article :: © 2012 Jazz News :: home page |
