Stevie Hawkins emerged as a winner at the 2012 Artists In Music Awards ceremonies held Friday, February 10, 2012, at the Key Club in Hollywood. The red carpet event was streamed live online worldwide. Selected from five finalists, Hawkins received his award in the Jazz Category as "Best Jazz Artist". Hawkins was also a nominee in the Blues Category as "Best Blues Artist".

A celebrity vibe and buzz surrounded the event that began at 7:00 p.m. at the Key Club on Sunset Boulevard in Hollywood, with the nominees being photographed and interviewed on the red carpet by press and Taylor Van Arsdale of Tailfish Productions, and Carmel Love of Hostile Magazine. The awards ceremony and show began at 8:00 p.m., emceed by AIMA Executive Producer Mikey Jayy and Samantha Starr among others. Dynamic live performances were given by artists who were up for award nominations, to include the show closer, Monte Pittman, guitarist for Madonna, who won the award for Best Solo Artist.

When asked how he felt when his name was announced as the winner for best jazz artist, Stevie said, "While walking toward the stage, hearing my song "Everything Is Subject To Change" playing, co-written with Charlotte Hannon, the feeling was a combination of excitement and dreamlike. Very much like receiving the news about the initial nomination for the award, took a while to get my head wrapped around accepting the reality of it." Hawkins also said, "I congratulate everyone who was nominated for the awards, and wish them abundance in continued success. I am very grateful for the honor of receiving this award, that comes as a surprise. This is a humbling moment, and very gratifying to know that jazz music remains a vibrant and exciting musical form, and that I can contribute to its vitality. I'd like to thank God for this blessing, Charlotte Hannon, who's been such a strong contributor and supporter to and of my career, my children Deanna, Justin and Miranda, my parents Peggy and Bill Clark, my brother Scott Rupe and his wife Seanna, and to the mentors and musicians along the way who have helped to shape and mold who I am musically today, too numerous to mention here. I would also like to thank 2012 Artists In Music Awards Executive Producer Mickey Jayy, and the judges for the nomination and for their decision of selecting me for the award. I wish to also thank the DJs and Program Directors at radio around the world for their support and airplay of my current album release "What The Funk?". The Artists In Music Awards and its creator Mikey Jayy are providing another solid foundation stone for the advancement and recognition of the global independent artists movement, and this is only the beginning. My musical journey thus far has been an interesting one, and one that shall continue on into the future."

Winners of this year's Artists In Music Awards will be asked to perform and present awards for the 2013 awards event in the categories of which they won this year.
