| Dirty Three Return With New Album The Dirty Three are set to release their new album 'Toward The Low Sun' on March 5th. Confusion still surrounds the future of Grinderman: have they split or haven't they? Appearing onstage at Australia's Meredith Festival, Nick Cave appeared to suggest that Grinderman were over. Leering at the crowd, the singer said: "That's it for Grinderman. It's over… See you all in another 10 years when we'll be even older and uglier." Drummer Jim Sclavunos has since expanded on that statement. "What happened at Meredith was more a bye-bye than an announcement. An announcement would be like a press release but who knows what will happen in five or 10 years time" he told FasterLouder. "My crystal ball is a bit low on batteries at the moment so I can't predict what the future of Grinderman is – if there is a future." The first band to splinter away from Grinderman will be The Dirty Three. The long running ensemble have not released any new music in over six years, yet the trio will veer back into life in 2012. The Dirty Three will release their new album 'Toward The Low Sun' on March 5th. Bella Union will handle the LP, which they have described as 'a punk avant-garde art-jazz record'. Expanding on this, Warren Ellis said recently: "Dirty Three has always been about the way we play together and feed off each other. We wanted this one to be a return to the more improvised and instinctive approach of the earlier recordings". With live dates in the pipeline, the Dirty Three are set to firm up details of their schedule next year.
