| Norah Jones Exposes New Little Willies Album January 10th In addition to being a sultry jazz vocalist/pianist, Norah Jones has a powerful affinity for country music. She showed that side of her personality to the world in 2006 with her side group, The Little Willies, who released their debut album on Milking Bull Records that year. In between her own busy solo career, Jones found time to record another album's worth of Little Willies music, and that record will be released on January 10th. Titled For the Good Times, the album will be a collection of covers of twelve classic country songs, including Dolly Parton's Jolene. Parton was such a fan of their cover that she was quoted as saying the following in a press release: "I love hearing Norah Jones sing anything, but I was overjoyed and overwhelmed when I heard her sing my song 'Jolene.' I salute The Little Willies." For the Good Times track list: 1. I Worship You (Ralph Stanley) 2. Remember Me (Scotty Wiseman) 3. Diesel Smoke, Dangerous Curves (Cal Martin) 4. Lovesick Blues (Cliff Friend, Irving Mills) 5. Tommy Rockwood (Jim Campilongo) 6. Fist City (Loretta Lynn) 7. Permanently Lonely (Willie Nelson) 8. Foul Owl On The Prowl (Quincy Jones, Alan Bergman, Marilyn Bergman) 9. Wide Open Road (Johnny Cash) 10. For the Good Times (Kris Kristofferson) 11. If You've Got The Money I've Got The Time (Lefty Frizzell, Jim Beck) 12. Jolene (Dolly Parton) Jones and the Little Willies ended up playing this year's installment of Neil Young's Bridge School Benefit at the Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View, California in October. write your comments about the article :: © 2011 Jazz News :: home page |
