| Wake Up Dead ManWorkshop Performance Novembre 27 Following a month long workshop process, Alex Coke's composition Wake Up Dead Man will be performed Novembre 27, 2011 at 3:30pm at Zaal 100 in Amsterdam, Netherlands. As part of the Brokkenfabriek series, the month has included arranging sections of the piece for the group and creating new material. Wake Up Dead Man is a jazz piece in six movements composed by Coke for the Texas Sesquicentennial. The music is inspired by prison work songs and a book of the same title by Bruce Jackson. Musicians for the November 27 performance of Wake Up Dead Man include: Alex Coke Roel Stern, fluit Camille Verhaak, clarinet Eelco Overman, alto saxophone Pim van der Heijdan, tenor saxophone Eugenie Carolina van der Meulen, piano and voice Wim de Jong, guitar Felix Barth, bass guitar Rob Kloet, drums In the second set, Zaal 100 welcomes The Alex Coke 4tet with Alex Coke, flutes and tenor saxophone Arjen Gorter, bass Leo Bouwmeester, piano Steven Altenberg, drums The Brokkenfabriek was founded by Corrie van Binsbergen in January 2008. Motivated, talented musicians with an interest in the combination of composition/improvisation receive masterclasses for a month, from different musical leaders. Every leader has, of course, a completely different approach and the material that is offered is therefore very varied. The BrokkenFabriek consists of a pool of musicians and changes every month, depending on the workshopleader and his plans. The Brokkenmiddag concert happens the last Sunday of every month at Zaal100.
