Saline Fiddlers to perform with Shout Sister Shout at Fall Hometown Show

The Saline Fiddlers will perform with guest artist Shout Sister Shout in the group's 18th annual Fall Hometown Show 7 p.m. Nov. 5 in the Ellen Ewing Performing Arts Center at Saline High School.

Shout Sister Shout is an energetic string band that combines the genre-defying rhythm section Steppin' In It with the smooth, sophisticated voice of singer-songwriter Rachael Davis, according to a press release from Saline Fiddlers.

The two Michigan acts found a common love for jazz music of the 1930s and '40s after playing concerts as a double bill. In the summer of 2006, working the same festivals, they collaborated on classic tunes from Nat King Cole to Sarah Vaughan. By the fall, the quintet was dubbed Shout Sister Shout and an album was in the works.

The group was later signed to M.C. Records out of New York, and their debut album was released on M.C. in spring 2009.

Made up of 27 music students from Saline High School, Saline Fiddlers is a semi-professional, touring fiddle band that blends music, song and dance from the traditions of American folk fiddle, bluegrass, jazz, western swing and Celtic music in an energetic performance that consistently leaves audiences leaping to their feet with applause.
