| Three Day Music Festival Added to Indian Summer Weekend A three day, free music festival produced by impresario and blues man, Bubba Mac, will be a new feature of this resorts popular Indian Summer Weekend, Oct. 7-10. The concerts are set for Friday, Oct. 7 through Sunday Oct. 9 at the City's historic Music Pier auditorium, an enclosed facility overlooking the ocean at Boardwalk and Moorlyn Terrace. Several performances are also scheduled for 7th and 9th Streets on the Boardwalk. The festival will feature a varied program of performing artists and Bubba Mac's renowned Blues Band. It will range from rock, reggae and pop to gospel, youth and Christian music. The new event is the idea of Bubba Mac, aka Herb Birch, a successful business owner whose love for music has resulted in a second career as a band leader and producer. He is being assisted by J.T. Williams of JT Productions. A resident of this seashore community, Birch suggested that the City enhance its 35 year old Indian Summer Celebration with a free Music Festival funded by sponsors. He is not a newcomer to this field, having produced huge Festivals in Atlantic City's former baseball stadium. Birch feels this event will be a great addition to his hometown. The festival will add a new dimension to the weekend, Oct. 7-10, and its centerpiece, a mile long Sat., block party in the downtown that features over 400 crafters, food and entertainment from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Oct. 8 and attracts over 60, 000 people. It will be an added incentive for visitors to stay over- night and enjoy other weekend activities that include a three day boardwalk seafood center, Saturday evening fireworks, a Sunday sidewalk sale in the downtown, table sales on the boardwalk, a brass band concert at the Ocean City Tabernacle, Oct. 8 and an Operafest featuring exchange students from Germany Oct. 9 produced by soprano and vocal arts teacher, Nancy Fox. "This will be a free showcase of professional talent that will be a highly entertaining addition to the weekend, " said Birch. "And sponsors will benefit from the huge audiences that the Festival attracts." "This has the potential to transform a great event into a super event and provide additional entertainment that will keep visitors in town, " said City Public Relations Director, Mark Soifer. "We appreciate the work and talent of Bubba Mac and his staff. We also would like to thank our sponsors. They will receive valuable exposure. It will be a win-win situation all around."
