Madcat & Kane to perform Aug. 18

The Owosso Amphitheater Association is bringing Madcat and Kane to its outdoor stage. When the July 21 concert was canceled due to the heat, many concert-goers were disappointed, officials noted, none more than the amphitheater board and Madcat himself.

"We are very glad that Madcat was able to find the Aug. 18 date available on his schedule, and so we extended the regular season, " Phil Heavilin said in a press release.

Crossing the lines between electric and acoustic, delta and Chicago, jump blues, folk blues, and jazz, Peter "Madcat" Ruth pairs his legendary harmonica virtuosity with the awesome guitar wizardry of Shari Kane to form an unbeatable performance. Madcat & Kane are internationally known having toured throughout North and South America, as well as Europe.

The concert has been partially funded by a grant from the Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs and the Michigan Humanities Council. Summerfest concerts begin at 7:30 p.m. most Thursdays and are provided free of charge.

A free-will offering collected at the event also helps fund the series.

Everyone is encouraged to bring a blanket or lawn chair and enjoy a night of quality musical entertainment by the river in downtown Owosso.

Concessions are made available by the Kiwanis Club of Shiawassee-Owosso. In the event of rain, the concert will move into the Owosso Middle School auditorium next door.
