| Manhattan School of Music Jazz Arts Program announces its Season MSM Jazz Arts, Justin DiCioccio, associate dean and chair, announces its 2011-2012 season. This season, MSM will be exploring the relationship of music to "sound and image" looking at collaborations between composers and visual artists to choreographers' visions. In keeping with this programming theme, the MSM Jazz Arts Vision concert series will offer a vivid spectrum, with each concert presenting repertoire that was composed and/or arranged for a different visual performance setting: modern dance, film, the concert hall and the dance hall. Highlights will include: ROOMS (choreography by Anna Sokolow and music by Kenyon Hopkins), a collaboration by the Limon Dance Company and MSM Chamber Jazz Ensemble; Mambo Nights in Hollywood: Latin Jazz in the Movies with the MSM Afro-Cuban Jazz Orchestra and Bobby Sanabria; a 50th Anniversary celebration of the film "West Side Story", and a two-concert series celebrating the legacy of STAN KENTON. write your comments about the article :: © 2011 Jazz News :: home page |
