Berry College to host World Music and Dance festival

Berry College will host its sixth annual World Music and Dance Festival on Saturday, April 30 at the Kilpatrick Commons outdoor area next to Krannert Center.

Performances are scheduled for 3-10 p.m. In the event of rain, the festival will be moved to Ford Auditorium. Admission is free and open to the public.

This year's event will showcase a variety of different musical groups and performance artists. The event's highlight and closing performance will be Ogya, an outstanding African tribal fusion musical group from Chattanooga, Tenn.

Also on the lineup are: the ATC Jazz Quartet, an original jazz ensemble featuring Berry alum Mark Johnson; Devidasa, Rome's world fusion funk dance band; EmJayCubed (MJ3), a Rome-based Jazz quartet; Kirtan Bandits, a Rome-based Indian chant ensemble; Sundari, a Rome-based Middle Eastern dance troupe; Lauryn Elise, a Chattanooga-based belly dancer; Saddle Mountain Bluegrass Boys, featuring Mark Johnson; and, Valley Young, an original folk music band from Tennessee featuring Berry alum Melanie LaFoy.
