| Master banjo player, author to get award Kinney Rorrer, a great nephew of Charlie Poole's fiddle player, Posey Rorer, will be the recipient of this year's Lifetime Achievement Award at Eden's Charlie Poole Music Festival, according to a press release. The festival is planned for June 10-11 at Governor Morehead Park, 422 Church Street. Rorrer's band, the New North Carolina Ramblers, has earned national recognition. He is a master banjo player and the author of "Charlie Poole, Rambling Blues: the Life and Songs of Charlie Poole." He also hosts a weekly music broadcast on National Public Radio. Among the acts scheduled to perform at the festival are the New North Carolina Ramblers, Riley Baugus and the Dry Hill Draggers (June 10) and the Orpheus Supertones and the UNCG Old Time Ensemble (June 11). There also will be competition in eight categories. Tickets are $15 for the Friday concert or Saturday's competitions and concert.
