Appel Farm Arts & Music Festival

Music Fans will converge near the small town of Elmer, New Jersey as Bank of America and Comcast present the Appel Farm Arts & Music Festival on Saturday, June 4, 2011. Gogol Bordello (acoustic), Josh Ritter & The Royal City Band, Ani DiFranco and Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue will be among the musical headliners as this popular annual event celebrates its 22nd outing. Additional performers are Good Old War, Red Horse (featuring Festival favorites John Gorka, Lucy Kaplansky & Eliza Gilkyson), Nicole Atkins, David Wax Museum, John Francis, Avi Wisnia, RUNA and performance poet, Napalm Da Bomb.

Gogol Bordello has enjoyed a decade-long career as a hard working band with an onstage energy and a reputation for rollicking live shows that is legendary! The infectious Gypsy punk music combines with the lyrics of front man Eugene Hutz, spinning scenarios that are, by turns, hilarious and heartbreaking.

In high school, Josh Ritter discovered Johnny Cash and Bob Dylan's "Girl From The North Country" and was inspired to follow his muse as a songwriter and performer. He was recently included in Paste Magazine's 100 greatest living songwriters among such luminaries as Dylan, Springsteen and Neil Young.

Ani DiFranco has released 20 albums in as many years, moving from the raw folk punk of her early years, through jazz funk grooves and her later work celebrating love, family and home. It is a journey she has shared openly with her fans as they also explore the arc of their own lives. She is a stunning live performer and is making her third Appel Farm Festival appearance.

Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue is that rare band that can draw both the unqualified respect of jazz legends and deliver a high-energy rock show capable of mesmerizing international rock stars and audiences alike. Steeped in the traditions of New Orleans jazz, the band also serves up an unprecedented mix of rock funk, jazz, hip-hop and soul for that perfect Festival vibe!

Two Appel Farm Festival favorites, John Gorka and Lucy Kaplansky
combine with songwriter Eliza Gilkyson in an exciting new ensemble,
Red Horse. Their self-titled debut album has become an instant folk classic.

CHILDREN'S VILLAGE, CRAFT FAIR, FOOD AND MORE!
To add to the fun and enjoyment for every age, the Festival hosts a Children's Village, with performers and arts activities to delight the young crowd. Scheduled to entertain throughout the afternoon are Tuckers' Tales Puppet Theater, Storyteller Kristin Pedemonti and Jerry Brown, juggler, magician and comedian. There will also be free arts activities to spark creativity in the younger set. Connoisseurs and collectors of American crafts will especially enjoy the juried Crafts Fair, where over 40 artists will exhibit and sell their creations. No Festival would be complete without the superb array of food vendors who satisfy concertgoer's taste buds with ethnic and all-American specialties. Vegetarian items are always available. Additionally, festival goers can enjoy local craft beer and wine from the Flying Fish Brewing Company and Auburn Road Vineyard and Winery. Philadelphia area patrons can also sign up for the Fergie's Pub Philly Beer Week Bus Trip To The Appel Farm Arts & Music Festival. Enjoy a great day out and leave the driving to us!
