| Celebrate Valentine's with jazz at museum The Halton Region Museum in Kelso Conservation Area wants people to take advantage of the upcoming Jazz at the Museum series performance as it celebrates the day of love. The concert will take place on Sunday, Feb. 13 from 2 to 4 p.m. with a performance by musician Paul Pacanowski. "The Jazz at the Museum concert series, which runs until May, is both a way to celebrate our heritage and mark a special occasion, Valentine's Day, " said Halton Regional Chair Gary Carr, in a press release." The series is put on by the Halton Museum Foundation in support of the museum's capital projects. On this occasion the museum's Hearth Room, where the concerts usually take place, will be decorated to celebrate Valentine's day and treats will be presented from Allison's Gourmet Catering, as well as door prizes courtesy of Cameron's Brewing. The classical and jazz musician Pacanowski is a Polish-born Toronto-based musician. He has performed with the Polish Chamber Orchestra, Nafshenu Orchestra, North York and Brampton Symphonies, Flying Bulgar Klezmer Band, From Both Ends of the Earth, as well as his own jazz quartet Mellifluence and The Other Trio. At the Museum, he will perform with the Mellifluence Jazz Trio, featuring Mark Dunn (bass) and Mike McClelland (drums). "Paul's unique musical approach is fresh and exhilarating, " said Steve Baker, foundation chairman and jazz series spokesperson, in the release. "He is both a composer and talented musician who plays tenor and soprano saxophone, flute and clarinet." Visitors to the show should inform gate staff they are attending the museum jazz concert to avoid park admission fees. The conservation area is located in Milton. write your comments about the article :: © 2011 Jazz News :: home page |
