Guitar Shorty's 'Bare Knuckle' blues

Alligator recording artist and master bluesman Guitar Shorty will celebrate the release of his new Alligator CD titled "Bare Knuckle, " with a live performance Friday (Jan. 28), 7:30 p.m., at the KTAOS Solar Center, 9 State Road 150, north of El Prado.

"Credited with influencing both Jimi Hendrix and Buddy Guy, Shorty has been electrifying audiences for five decades with his supercharged live shows and his incendiary recordings beginning in 1957 with a Willie Dixon-produced single on the Cobra label, " a press release reads.

"Guitar Shorty's 'Bare Knuckle, ' produced by famed songwriter and bassist Wyzard, a member of Mother's Finest who has toured with Stevie Nicks and others, burns with heavy blues-rock fire from start to finish, putting Shorty's infectious energy and guitar pyrotechnics on full display.

Also at the Solar Center: The Boulder Acoustic Society is said to be haunted by the past and focused on the future. Its Indie-folk sound "draws from Appalachian roots, gritty gospel and the contemporary urban soundscapes, " according to the band's promotional materials. It "merges tradition with innovation, producing a unique sound and an unforgettable live entertainment experience." See what all the noise is about Saturday (Jan. 29), 7:30 p.m., when BAS plays the KTAOS Solar Center. Cover is $8 at the door.
