| Hans Chew Announces East Coast Tour Dates Touring in support of his debut album, Tennessee & Other Stories..., Hans Chew kicks off his inaugural tour in Philadelphia on February 18th beginning a 10-day run of shows to indoctrinate the uninitiated in the sights and sounds of his well-oiled live act. Hans Chew's debut has received high-praise from a plethora of music blogs and rock magazines, including the revered British rock mag, Uncut, which awarded Hans the # 3 spot on their list of the Best Americana Albums of 2010 (behind iconic rock legend Robert Plant and the pride of Athens, GA, the Drive-By Truckers). Dusted Magazine describes his music as being "steeped in a Gothic American tradition of murder ballads like 'Pretty Polly' and hung-over repentances like 'Sunday Morning Coming Down, ' with an occasional detour through the back roads of classic rock." KEXP in Seattle says, "Hans captures the forgotten sounds of country — boogie, rhythm and blues, and folk — and hocks its loogie into the saloon spittoon with attitude." Hans Chew's four-piece band will be performing with many other great acts on the tour, including: The Black Twig Pickers, Hiss Golden Messenger, Roger Alan Wade, Megajam Booze Band, Boogie Witch, Phillip Roebuck, Zack Orion, The Beanstalk Library, Altered Statesmen, The Cherry Blossoms, The Limitations, Ben Trickey, Cory Campbell, Rope, and Federale. Following the American tour Hans will be performing at the Kilkenny Rhythm & Roots Festival in Ireland on April 30th - May 2. He will also be touring with D. Charles Speer & the Helix as a band member in 2011 in support of their upcoming Thrill Jockey Records release entitled "Leaving the Commonwealth". write your comments about the article :: © 2011 Jazz News :: home page |
