METAlliance Records Kat Edmonson in NYC

Jazz vocal sensation Kat Edmonson will be tracked and mixed by the METAlliance founding directors "In Session with The Guys, " February 19-20, 2011 in NYC at famed Avatar Studios. Edmonson has been described as "equal parts Billie Holiday and Bjork" in All About Jazz.

Amenities at the historic Avatar Studios include catered food, free JBL RMC(tm) Room Mode Correction Calibration Kits, and a special private gathering February 18th for those who register by the newly extended deadline of January 23, 2011.

"Kat is a tremendous talent - the best new jazz singer I've heard in years, " says Grammy-winning engineer Al Schmitt, who mixed Edmonson's first album. "Kat is definitely a rising star in jazz, with a style and charm that reaches fans in the worlds of blues, rock, pop, and beyond. We'll be recording tracks for her new album, so this is a unique chance to see a true artist making great music in the studio."

"In Session with The Guys" attendees will participate and interact with the METAlliance founders in live recording and mixing sessions with Edmonson. From Austin, Texas, she been called, "memorable and contagious" by NPR and "the most promising American jazz singer to come along since Cassandra Wilson" by The Boston Globe. Other artists to be recorded during the Avatar weekend are TBA.

As in the inaugural 2010 METAlliance event in Hollywood at Capitol Studios, participants get a close-up look at basic tracking and mic techniques. In separate mixing sessions they are presented with the detailed procedures in significant detail, plus experience in-depth critical listening workshops.

The METAlliance offers a unique opportunity to experience living history while learning invaluable techniques with the legendary master craftsmen who founded the METAlliance. Every attendee will participate in four sessions, each designed to provide different experiences in the recording process and led by the founding members. Space is very limited.

Mixing:
* Session Three: Chuck Ainlay
* Session Four: "In the Box" home studio mixing with Frank Filipetti and George Massenburg in a home studio environment
