| Euclid String Quartet Perform Schubert’s Popular "Trout" A concert featuring The Euclid String Quartet will be performed Thursday, January 13, at 8 p.m. at BIG ARTS Schein Performance Hall, located at 900 Dunlop Road, Sanibel. The Euclid will be accompanied by pianist Paul Posnak and double-bassist Jeffrey Kipperman to perform the well-known Schubert "Trout" quintet. The Euclid will also perform Haydn's Quartet in D minor, Op. 76 No. 2, "Quinten" and selections from "At the Octoroon Balls" by Wynton Marsalis. Praised by the Washington Post for their "elegant mix of passion, ferocity, and feathery delicacy, " and hailed by the Denver Post for their "electric" playing, The Euclid Quartet has captivated audiences and critics with performances at venues ranging from Carnegie Hall to radio and television broadcasts. They are the only American string quartet to be awarded a top prize at the prestigious Osaka International Chamber Music Competition since 1993. They have won numerous competitions, including the Hugo Kauder International Competition for String Quartets and Carmel Chamber Music Competition. Most recently, the Euclid Quartet has been awarded the prominent "American Masterpieces" grant from the National Endowment for the Arts. The quartet – Jameson Cooper, Jacob Murphy, Luis Vargas, and Si-Yan Darren Li – is one of only three ensembles awarded the String Quartet Fellowship to participate at the Aspen Music Festival. Pianist Paul Posnak's international career as a concert pianist, recording artist, and teacher began as a child prodigy with a full scholarship to The Juilliard Preparatory School at age eight. He won First Prize in the International J.S. Bach Competition as well as the Concert Artists Guild Competition in New York. He has performed at the White House, Kennedy Center and Carnegie Recital Hall. Posnak has worked with many world-renowned vocalists, including Luciano Pavarotti, and Jennie Tourel, and performed and recorded with many of the world's leading chamber ensembles. Double-bassist Jeffrey Kipperman has performed with numerous classical groups including Balla Tounkara and Groupe Spirit, the Caramoor Virtuosi Orchestra, the Tanglewood Music Center Orchestra, the Boston Symphony Orchestra, and the Orquesta Sinfónica de Yucatán. In the summer of 2001, he performed in the inaugural concert of Yo-Yo Ma's Silk Road Project.
