| Special Merit Awards for lifetime achievement at the Grammy Awards The Recording Academy announced its Special Merit Awards on December 22, 2010, in a press release. The Special Merit Awards will be presented during Grammy Week and a formal acknowledgment will be made during the 53rd Annual Grammy Awards on Sunday, February 13, 2011. The Grammy Awards will be held at Staples Center in Los Angeles and will be televised live on CBS. This year's group of honorees, to be include: Broadway and movie star Julie Andrews, jazz great Roy Haynes, Julliard String Quartet, folk/rock and American artists The Kingston Trio, Country Music star Dolly Parton, punk rock stars the Ramones, and Gospel singer/composer George Beverly Shea as Lifetime Achievement Award honorees. Al Bell, Wilma Cozart Fine and Bruce Lundvall will be recognized as Trustees Award honorees; and Roger Linn and Waves Audio as Technical GRAMMY Award honorees.
