| Gregg Allman stopping in Stamford, Tarrytown Southern crooner Gregg Allman brings his brand of low-down country blues to Stamford for a special post-Christmas performance at Stamford's Palace Theatre and a New Year's show at the Tarrytown (N.Y.) Music Hall. After recovering from liver transplant surgery in June, Allman is back on the road, playing a slew of dates throughout the Northeast. "I've been itching to play since I got the operation, " Allman said in a press release. A member of the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame, Allman is a founding member of the Allman Brothers Band, the famed blues rock outfit Allman formed with his brother, Duane, in 1969. He has since embarked on a solo career, releasing a handful of records, including his debut, "Laid Back, " and "Playin' Up a Storm" with the Greg Allman Band. His latest album, the aptly-titled "Low Down Country Blues" is slated to hit the shelves in January. He is known both for his keyboard chops and sweet, Southern-accented vocals. write your comments about the article :: © 2010 Jazz News :: home page |
