Henderson to perform during Ben Wheeler New Year’s Eve event

Legendary blues and rock guitarist Bugs Henderson is scheduled to perform here at Moore's Store during a New Year's Eve party. "I grew up with Bugs in Tyler, followed him to Dallas, and now we're both home in East Texas, " said Brooks Gremmels, cofounder of Ben Wheeler Arts & Historic District Foundation, the organization that helped revitalize Moore's Store.

"He just gets better and better. We're honored to be his host on New Year's Eve."

Henderson performed at the venue on Sept. 11. The Tyler-raised musician picked up the six-string guitar at an early age. His passion for music "was farther enlivened as a teen when he would sneak into local music venues to check out their gigs, " a press release said.

Later, Henderson joined his friend, Ronnie "Mouse" Weiss, in the band Mouse and the Traps, which charted its first song, "Public Execution, " in 1966.

The event is scheduled for 8:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. Admission costs apply to attend the performance that includes a three-course dinner and champagne.
