UK jazz programme crosses international boundaries

Europe's leading 24/7 jazz music radio station, UK Jazz Radio, has revealed that Russian and Eastern European listeners now form the second largest group of listeners after the United Kingdom, ahead of France and the USA.

The station's Music Director, Brian Soundy, said: "We have always had a strong Russian and Eastern European following but a new show, in both English and Russian, presented by Victor Unukovsky, a popular Russian jazz guitarist resident in the UK, focusses on the jazz scene in eastern Europe. This has proved to be immensely popular with jazz fans right across the globe but particularly in Victor's homeland."

The station, can be listened to on the internet, on mobile phones, Sony PlayStations, internet car radios and wi-fi radios and by clicking on the links on the UK Jazz Radio website, www.ukjazzradio.com. There is also a hugely popular "listen again" facility so that listeners can catch previous editions of popular shows, such as Victor's, at any time.

Brian Soundy also noted that the station's links to Russian and Eastern Europe go further: "One of our chosen charities is MongolAid, www.mongolaid.org.uk, and we are hosting a number of live music events over the coming months to help raise money for a new field ambulance, resplendent with the UK Jazz Radio logos on the side, to help bring medical support to the remoter areas of Mongolia."
