Delivering a thigh-stomping fusion of Brazilian, Latin and Jazz rhythms with electrifying technique, drummer Mauricio Zottarelli appears this Saturday night November 13 beginning at 12:30 AM (actually November 14 by that time) with his group in the Late Night Jazz Series at the Blue Note, 131 West 3rd Street, New York, 212-475-8592, www.BlueNote.net. EJazzNews.com commented "Mauricio Zottarelli is a hot new talent to watch out for!"

On the forefront of the Jazz, Latin and Brazilian music scenes, drummer/Composer Mauricio Zottarelli recently released his first album, entitled 7 Lives. The CD features several of his own compositions and features a lineup of some of the top jazz and Brazilian music artists performing a unique mix of Brazilian jazz, fusion, and jazz.

Best known for his musicality, impeccable time and groove, his facility on the drum set, and his ability to play in many different styles, Mauricio is often seen performing with some of the most preeminent jazz, fusion, pop/rock, Latin, and Brazilian names in today's music both in shows around the U.S. and in tours all around the world. Since moving to New York in 2006 he has been tapped by an array of leading players to infuse their music with his explosive talent – including Hiromi, Eliane Elias, Marc Johnson, Esperanza Spalding, Cláudio Roditi, Jovino Santos Neto, Nilson Matta, Toninho Horta, and many others. Zottarelli has appeared on more than 50 albums as a drummer/percussionist, and is the co-leader of the jazz-fusion project Dig Trio. During 2009, Mauricio joined Japanese pianist Hiromi's super group, Hiromi's Sonicbloom, and has been traveling the world in support of her CD, Beyond Standard.

After earning a degree in Computer Science in Brazil in 1997, Mauricio moved to the U.S. in 1999 to study at Berklee College of Music. There he was awarded a scholarship and graduated after majoring in Film Scoring, Performance and Arranging.
