| Rock on Down to 60s and 70s Super Dance in Cairns Rock'n'rollers planning a stay in tropical north Queensland, Australia next month should make sure they catch a performance from two of the most popular local bands of the 1960s and 70s. The Fireflies and Coppersole are coming together to play at Cannon Park Racecourse in Cairns on November 13th 2010 in what the organisers are billing as a fantastic night of dancing and entertainment. Older music fans may remember the former act as touring with the likes of Johnny O'Keefe, Normie Rowe, Ted Mullery and Dinah Lee back in the day, while at their peak they won Hoadley's Battle of the Sounds for three years running. Meanwhile, Coppersole are described by the organisers as undoubtedly the most popular band in Cairns during the 1970s and have previously supported big names including The Seekers and John Paul Young. If this line-up is not enough to convince Cairns accommodation guests to book tickets for the 60s and 70s Super Dance, local student and jazz music lover Shoshanna Berry-Porter will open the night's entertainment with her soulful voice. write your comments about the article :: © 2010 Jazz News :: home page |
