| Crowds up at this year's Jazz Sudbury festival Tickets to the second annual Jazz Sudbury festival jumped nearly 100 per cent from the first festival, according to event organizers. About 3, 350 people were at this year's festival, compared to about 1, 800 last year. "the reception to the first festival made us believe that there was a demand for what we were doing and the fact that we nearly doubled out ticket sales in year two confirms that belief, " Paul Lefebvre, festival chair, stated in a press release. It wasn't just the audience that grew at the second Jazz Sudbury festival. New venues and more performers were added to this year's roster. Other northern Ontario cities were also the targets of advertising campaigns. Jazz fans from North Bay, Timmins and other communities made it out to the festival which ran from Sept. 10 to 12. Matt Zimbel, part of the headlining group Manteca, said the group was "treated with such grace, " and said it was "a real pleasure" to perform in Greater Sudbury. write your comments about the article :: © 2010 Jazz News :: home page |
