| 6th Annual "Jazz in the Gardens" Music Festival The City announces dates for the 2011 Jazz in the Gardens. On March 19 & 20, 2011, the 6th Annual "Jazz in the Gardens" music festival will be held at Sun Life Stadium, in the heart of Miami Gardens. 2011 performers and ticket on sale date will be announced later this fall. "The 2011 event will continue our legacy of producing a first class event. As we say in Miami Gardens, 'if we don't do it first class, we don't do it at all!' This event is really making an impact locally on tourism and travel. About 45, 000 people attended the event last year. People come from all around the nation and it truly has a positive impact on the local economy. Hotels, restaurants, airlines, car rentals and retailers are reaping the economic benefits of what the 'Jazz in the Gardens' brand has created. Miami Gardens is making a significant contribution to the region, and we are proud to have an asset that not only provides great leisure activity and entertainment, but also is an economic engine, " says Miami Gardens Mayor Shirley Gibson. "Jazz in the Gardens" owes its success to a simple formula: a star-studded line-up, great food, extraordinarily affordable ticket prices and amazing weather. For the past five years the festival has enjoyed unprecedented growth, consistently delivering stunning increases in attendance and box office revenues year after year. Despite the economy, in 2010 the "Jazz in the Gardens" box office enjoyed a 90% increase in revenue. Economic development for the region is a natural benefit of Jazz in the Gardens. In 2010, "Jazz in the Gardens" partnered with The Greater Fort Lauderdale Convention & Visitors Bureau According to Al Tucker, Vice President of Multicultural Business Development, "the economic impact was definitely felt in Broward County. I'm still hearing praise from those who attended Jazz in the Gardens 2010, and they are already inquiring about attending the 2011 event." The 2010 "Jazz in the Gardens" performers were some of the most extraordinary A-list artists in the world: Mary J. Blige, John Legend, Robin Thicke, Teena Marie, Boyz II Men, Cassandra Wilson, David Sanborn, Melanie Fiona, Joe Sample and K'Jon contributed immensely towards making a memorable and profitable event. Previous years have included legendary artists such as Wyclef, Babyface, Kenny G., Frankie Beverly and Maze, Chaka Khan, Chrisette Michele, Common, Erykah Badu, Anthony Hamilton, Roy Ayers, The O'Jays, Nancy Wilson, George Benson, Sergio Mendez, Luciano, KEM and Boney James.
