| En Karma Release Debut Album The answer to "what is the sound of bhangra?" conventionally exists in the space where Asian, UK and hip hop cultures meet. Vancouver-based band En Karma feel that it's about time that Canada is thrown into that mix. Having created a sound that strikes the perfect balance between traditional bhangra and contemporary fusion, En Karma are finally set to drop their long awaited self-titled debut album on July 30th, What makes En Karma specifically unique is that they are the only completely live bhangra band in North America – a rare trait in the global scene. Comprised of six exceptional musicians, En Karma is positioned to put Canada on the international Bollywood map, alongside of more renowned artists such as Malkit Singh, Jazzy B, and DCS. It's been an incredible year so far: three major performances at the 2010 Winter Olympics, headlining the Spotlight On India showcase at Canadian Music Week 2010, a popular collaboration with Indian superstar KS Makhan and Shin from DCS followed by a nomination for Best New Artist at the 2010 Brit Asia Music Awards. En Karma's debut album also features Sanj and Kytami of Delhi 2 Dublin and will be released by two major international labels, Moviebox (worldwide) and T-Series (India). The first single, "Tere Bina Nahi Nachna", features bhangra superstar H-Dhami. They introduced them selves to the festival circuit in 2009, performing at the Salmon Arm Roots & Blues Festival and Vancouver's DesiFest En Karma will be touring Canada and overseas to support the album but to kick things off, they will be performing live at their album release party in Vancouver, BC. Check local listings for details. With their new album just around the corner, En Karma rekindles the Canadian torch that will shine brighter than ever seen before.
