| Viva Deconcini's 'Rock & Roll Burlesque' On July 15, fierce frontwoman Viva DeConcini will take her 'Rock & Roll Burlesque' from the packed, sweaty venues of the Lower East Side to the Hudson River's "floating nightclub, " The Queen of Hearts. The scenic cruise, which sails around the Statue of Liberty, will feature Viva and her 4-piece band bringing to life the exuberant songs from her new album 'Rock & Roll Lover' (out 7/13) alongside classic rock covers, while burlesque artists perform a populist blend of satire, performance art, and classic stripteases throughout the night. Special guest Burlesque performers include Lady Rizo, Miss Saturn and Nasty Canasta. Dubbed "Lady Axsmith" by Time Out New York, Viva's searing riffs and energizing live shows have earned her a reputation as one of the city's great, unsung musical heroes. She'll celebrate the release of 'Rock and Roll Lover' on a bill of all female-fronted bands, including The Ravers, The Love Loves, and GoonSquad, at the Cake Shop on July 21. write your comments about the article :: © 2010 Jazz News :: home page |
