| Molly Maguire's "Naked" release - new from SUGO Music We are pleased to announce the much anticipated debut album of singer-songwriter Molly Maguire's Naked. Molly Maguire is a San Francisco native and has been composing, performing and conducting music in the Bay Area since 1999. Molly contacted us at the beginning of the year to show us some of her new works. When we first heard the recording, everyone in our office stopped and stared. We were mesmorized by what we heard. After a few songs passed, we began to stare again at each other; we then began to smile. We played her compositions over and over, for days and days. Molly's songs are true stories. They are as if someone or something was looking deep into our lives through tiny windows; stripping down elemental sensations...naked. We've been touched by her works. We hope you will be too! We had a chance to catch up with Molly after mastering the new release and asked a few questions about her new project, her life and how it feels to be "naked". Here's what she said: Why naked? "The songs on this album are an intimate reflection. They really bear all, and the fact that the music sings simplicity made the title choose itself". How did it all start? "I've always loved music, writing stories and finding ways to portray them. Along the way I studied under the guidance of Sara Ganz and Joshua Habermann at San Francisco State University, then performed and toured with an ensemble called the Chamber Singers". Tell us more about your music studies and collaborations. "In 2001 I transferred to MillsCollege in Oakland, CA where I studied composition under Fred Frith, Alvin Curran and Maggi Payne, and performed with various ensembles. A few years later I completed my BA in music composition. In 2005, I composed and conducted string arrangements for Puspa Dewi through composer and producer Kevin Bird". If you were not a musician, what type of career would you have pursued? "An actress for sure. In fact, maybe there's a part of me that hasn't given up on that dream". What are you currently listening to these days? What is your iPod mix? "At home, I tend to go back to the same three CD's: This Old Earthquake, Mariee Sioux and Beth Orton. Otherwise it's NPR or Pandora. In my iPod is Gilbert and Sullivan's "Iolanthe" because I'm getting ready to conduct it". What other projects have you loved working on? "Well, I'm proud to say that I co-founded the Bolinas Bay Performing Arts, acting as musical director for the Bolinas Choir and Theater on the Lagoon, a company dedicated to providing youth from West Marin a chance to perform on stage. In 2008, I was the musical director for some plays including Gabriel Faure's "Requiem, " writing the orchestral arrangement for Edmund Welles, the bass clarinet quartet. I was also hired as the annual conductor for Handel's "Messiah" at the DancePalace in Point Reyes Station, CA".
