| Jasmine: blooming in Europe The newly-released "Jasmine" seems set to become one of Keith Jarrett's most popular releases. The album, Jarrett's first studio recording in 12 years, reunites the pianist with bassist Charlie Haden after a separation of more than three decades, and is currently topping jazz charts all across Europe. Not only that, it has entered several national pop charts as well. In its first week of release, it shot into the French, Swiss, and Norwegian Top 20s, as well as the German Top 30 (currently at #23 and climbing). Additionally "Jasmine" made the Top Ten iTunes list in France, and has had the unusual distinction of being simultaneously #1 on both the jazz and classical charts of Amazon.de. US release of the "Jasmine" CD is on May 25. write your comments about the article :: © 2010 Jazz News :: home page |
