| Kelly's Lot Returns to Dallas Kelly's Lot Returns To Texas Friday Nights on KHYI 95.3, Poor David's Pub and a few stops along the way. Kelly's Lot loves to play in Texas. The roadhouse rock and blues band can't get enough of it. They have made it a point to return to play there throughout the 15 years they have been a band. Dallas is their #1 destination outside of their local area in Los Angeles. The main reason for this isn't that guitar player Perry Robertson and drummer J.P. Evans are from Texas or that they Love the barbecue or that their music fits right in here. No, it's their friends and fans that welcome them with open arms into their homes. The offers to feed and house the band come rolling in as soon as the news is out that Kelly's Lot is coming back. "Texans are the best, " Kelly says, "I can't believe the generosity here." KHYI's Greg "Pookie" Patterson helped book them an acoustic show at Love and War in Texas in Grapevine on June 17th after having them on his show a few months ago. Robertson has been a long time friend of Patterson and his brothers since their high school days in Snyder, Texas. Kelly's Lot will do a special acoustic performance at The Patterson's own Parkway Jewelry and Loan in Plano at 3pm the following day on June 18. Later that evening Kelly will be on the radio with Patterson for the Texas Friday Night show on khyi 95.3 and then on to Poor David's Pub at 9pm. David Card (Poor David) believes in the band and has welcomed them back to the pub with open arms. They will top off the weekend with a short set for KHYI's Shiner Sundays at Love and War in Texas in Plano on June 20 opening for Blacktop Gypsy and Max Stalling Kelly's Lot weaves a variety of styles on a blues/rock foundation. They have released 6 CDs including most recently "The Light" and "Pastrami and Jam". During their 15 years together this North Hollywood band has toured regionally, nationally and internationally including a variety of festivals and events. Kelly's Lot has been featured on many media outlets including radio, televison, films and podcasts and continue to gain fans all over the globe. In 2008 and 2009 they toured across Belgium, France and Germany and are now planning their 2010 European tour. write your comments about the article :: © 2010 Jazz News :: home page |
