| Alejandro Escovedo Plays 2 Album Release Alejandro Escovedo, riding a wave of advance acclaim for his 'Street Songs of Love, ' out June 29 from Fantasy Records/Concord Music Group, will play album release shows with his band The Sensitive Boys at New York's City Winery June 29 and 30. Bobby Bare Jr. will open. Escovedo is known for his electrifying, dynamic live sets. The Washington Post described a recent performance as "blistering" and a "muscular but supple throw-down." "Down in the Bowery, " a highlight of 'Street Songs of Love, ' is dedicated to Escovedo's son. He and his son share a love of the Ramones and the song, sung with guest Ian Hunter, exhorts his son (who is a graffiti artist and in a punk band) to find his own musical and life path with his father's support and love. "Down in the Bowery" also recalls Escovedo's time in NYC in the late 1970s, playing with a punk band of his own. Interviews with Alejandro will air on NPR's Morning Edition and NPR's World Café during release week, and the album will be an NPR.org First Listen. 'Street Songs Of Love' features guest artists Bruce Springsteen and Ian Hunter and was produced by Tony Visconti, There's early buzz from USA Today as Brian Mansfield writes: "Texas rocker is ready to sail on the sea of love." In a four-star review, UNCUT said that the album reveals Escovedo "in fighting form."
