| 38th Annual Bentonia Blues Festival in June Who's ready for the blues? The 38th Annual Bentonia Blues Festival is scheduled for Saturday, June 19th 2010 in the heart of downtown Bentonia, Mississippi, at the home place of the historic Blue Front Cafe'. The festival kicks off at 9:00 am with performances by several local gospel groups, such as Van Foster and the Dynamic Sounds of Gospel. At 1:00 pm, blues performers will take the stage. You'll hear from artists such as Bentonia's own Jimmy "Duck" Holmes, Brian Sivils of Louisiana, Alphonso Sanders & Bill "Howlin' Mad" Perry, and legendary Blues Hall of Fame member Bobby Rush, just to name a few. "The day will be chock full of fun for the entire family!" says Tonja Smith, Executive Director for the Yazoo County CVB. "There's a lot of work being put into making sure this event is an even bigger success than in previous years. Last year's attendance was estimated to be over 6, 000, and we are poised to top that in 2010!" "The festival gets bigger and better each year, " says Jimmy "Duck" Holmes, blues musician and owner of the Blue Front Cafe'. "This year will be nothing different." The public is encouraged to participate however they can. This is a huge event for Yazoo County and for Mississippi, and it depends on volunteers and sponsorship to make it successful. For those interested in volunteering and/or sponsoring, call the Yazoo County CVB at 662-746-1815. A festival just isn't a festival without food or arts & crafts vendors.
