| See Paco Renteria in Hanoi Those staying in hotels in Hanoi this May will have the opportunity to see one of the finest artists to emerge from Mexico since the likes of Carlos Santana and Lolita De La Colina. Virtuoso guitar player Paco Renteria will take to the stage at the Hanoi Opera House on June 14th as part of his world tour. With an explosive Latino passion, Renteria has forged a highly successful career in his native Mexico and indeed around the world. Combining gypsy flamenco, Afrikaans, oriental and progressive jazz rhythms, his unique amalgamation of sounds makes him one of the most exciting entertainers today. He began playing guitar at the age of seven and quickly developed a talent for it, so much so that he graduated from music school by the time he was 14. His first true test as an artist came when he performed with the Philharmonic Orchestra of Guadalajara at the Aranjuez Concert in Mexico when he was 22 and his calmness on stage convinced everyone that he was a star in the making. So special is his repertoire that Renteria has worked with musicians as diverse as Carlos Santana and the great Luciano Pavarotti and his compositions have been used in films, the most famous being El Mariachi, which featured in Robert Rodriguez' 1995 movie Desperado. write your comments about the article :: © 2010 Jazz News :: home page |
