| Quince Debuts Series of Live Jazz Duets Evanston has many wonderful live music venues and can now add the intimate cocktail lounge Q2 (1625 Hinman Avenue) to the list. Located across the hall from Quince at the Homestead, Q2 debuts a live jazz performance series, Q2Nite, on Thursday, April 8 beginning at 7:30 p.m. Emmy Award-winning musician Steve Rashid and jazz mandolin artist Don Stiernberg kick off the unique series of jazz duets, which will continue on the first and third Thursdays of the month. Q2 offers a unique opportunity for musicians and guests alike. The cozy lounge seats up to 40 people, which allows for an intimate concert experience. Steve Rashid, owner of Woodside Avenue Music Studios in Evanston, takes on the role of music director for the Q2Nite series and has scheduled an impressive lineup of talented jazz musicians. "The duet is among the most intimate of musical experiences, " states Rashid. "The performers are vulnerable as each must play with great focus while listening – and reacting – to everything the other is doing, with no safety net provided by other band members. Q2 is such a warm, intimate space that it seemed the perfect venue to showcase this series of unique musical conversations by some of Chicago's finest musicians." After the premiere concert on April 8, the Q2Nite series moves to the first and third Thursdays of every month. On Thursday, April 15, renowned vocalist Megon McDonough is joined by pianist Peter Polzak.
