| Quinn Sands to Release Debut CD The much anticipated debut CD of singer-songwriter Quinn Sands will be released on March 31 with a release party and concert at The Barking Spider Tavern in Cleveland's University Circle. The album entitled "Driving Through The Rain" features Quinn with her sultry voice and rhythm guitar backed by band members Dave Mann on guitar, mandolin and keyboards, Joe Landes on lead guitar, Adam Rich on bass and Ernie Richmann on drums. The tracks were recorded and mastered at Mann Wolf studios in Lyndhurst. The 13 songs represent Quinn's first foray into songwriting and performing that began with her timidly stepping behind a microphone with her acoustic guitar at Euclid's Arabica Coffee House open mic night not quite two years ago. "The songs are each little stories that express love, loss, longing and hope wrapped up in simple melodies and thoughtful lyrics with a just a little edge and a dash of humor sprinkled on top", says Quinn. "I think everyone can relate to some of the feelings I have written about in these songs". Sands' backup band on the album are the former "New Madrids", the Cleveland Ohio band fronted by the dynamic "Rust Belt Blues" songwriter Oliver Buck. The Barking Spider concert will showcase Quinn and the band with performances of all the songs from "Driving Through the Rain". CDs will be available for purchase at the show and also on iTunes and CD Baby. Following this show, Quinn will be launching a series of solo shows and begin work on an acoustic CD featuring some newly written songs. Mann, Rich and Richmann will be backing guitarist Joe Landes in a new blues-based project with shows beginning in April. write your comments about the article :: © 2010 Jazz News :: home page |
