| Music Industry Critics Like Nicole Henry Nicole Henry who received not one, but two rave reviews last month from music industry mega critics Stephen Holden of the NY Times and Chuck Taylor former writer and senior editor of Billboard magazine returns to New York's Metropolitan Room at 34 W. 22nd Street in Chelsea on Friday, March 19 at 7:30pm. With her powerful voice and sexy statuesque stage presence, Henry gives a fresh feeling to classic jazz standards and intimately connects with her fans through her genuine delivery and spirited wit. Chuck Taylor opens his February 14 Valentine's Day review stating "On rare occasion, a performer is so natural, so fully oneself onstage, that you can't imagine there'd ever be any question of their calling. Such is the case with adult/jazz artist Nicole Henry- but with a bonus. Not only does she own center stage, she graciously shares it with her audience, including them as active participants." Stephen Holden states that "her singing is free of the flowery melismas that became ubiquitous pop cliché in the 1990s…devoid of the scat improvisations that many ambitious jazz singers unfortunately feel obligated to shoehorn into their performances…and she holds back the force of her tart-timbered voice until the right dramatic moment to unleash its considerable power." Henry has toured thirteen countries and released three international Top 10-selling jazz CDs, including her latest The Very Thought of You, which reached #7 on the U.S. Billboard Jazz Chart and is featured on Delta Airlines. In 2004, Nicole released her solo debut CD The Nearness of You to critical acclaim. In Japan, after climbing to #2 on HMV Japan Jazz Charts, and staying in the TOP 10 for three months HMV Japan named Nicole "Best New Jazz Artist of 2004." Her follow-up CD, Teach Me Tonight with the Eddie Higgins Trio reached #1 at HMV Japan, and earned her their honor of "Best Vocal Jazz Album of 2005."
