Salvador Santana Kicks Off West Coast Tour

Salvador Santana is kicking off a run of dates this Wednesday, March 3 in Boulder, CO, touring in support of his solo debut, Keyboard City, released last month via Various Music/Quannum Projects. The keyboard mastermind will be sharing the stage with UK funk transplants, The New Mastersounds. Following a string of shows in Colorado, the tour will head up the West Coast, from San Diego to Seattle, finishing off at Neumo's on Thursday, March 18. Santana and The New Mastersounds will kick off another leg of touring in the South on April 17 at the Earth Day Festival in Asheville, NC . Aside from his extensive keyboard set-up, Santana will be backed by a four piece band (keys/trumpet, bass, drums and horns/percussion).

Salvador Santana co-wrote and co-produced the wonderfully eclectic Keyboard City with none other than Money Mark (Beastie Boys), certainly a name which has come to be synonymous with keyboard playing. Keyboard City has also spawned collaborations with the legendary GZA from the Wu-Tang Clan and Dan Deacon, both of whom remixed the title track.

Easy going and humble, Salvador exudes the Bay Area vibe. He began playing the drums at age three-sitting on his father's lap, controlling the snare and tom, while Carlos worked the hi-hat and kick drum-but his true love was discovered when he began taking piano lessons when he was six. Later, he studied at San Francisco 's heralded School of the Arts before attending Cal Arts in Valencia, CA . His education, passion and lineage has turned Salvador, now 26, into a monster on the keys.

With Keyboard City, Salvador Santana emerges as his own musical force to be reckoned with. The keyboard-centric live show will be a sight to see, not unlike the truly fantastic album packaging for Keyboard City !
