| Bassist Pete Roberts Releases His 1st Recording Bay Area bassist Pete Roberts announces the release of his 1st solo recording. It is truly a solo recording – Pete composed all the tunes, played all of the instruments, and engineered and mixed the recording. The recording contains a diverse mix of instrumentals – from "The Bishop" (a deep funk number with a 3-part guitar melody) to "Crescent City Ditty" (a New Orleans second-line tune), to the prettier "Desert Road" and "Memorial". Pete Roberts is a San Francisco based bassist that has been playing music for over 30 years. His background includes a wide variety of rock, funk, blues, and jazz. He can be heard on "Extraordinary" by Dial-8, "The Ladder" by Opus 9, "Naked Son" by Marc Bryant, and an upcoming release by the Saul Kaye Band (untitled at press time). He has performed on countless stages including the 2003 Atlanta Jazz Festival and the infamous San Francisco "Bay to Breakers" race route in 2004. Pete is currently playing in the San Francisco Bay Area with: The Ralph Woodson Experience Bassist/multi-instrumentalist Pete Roberts understands the pocket, whether you're talking about rock, funk, blues, or jazz. Starting on guitar and switching to bass as his primary instrument, Pete started by studying the lines of John Entwistle, Geddy Lee, and Chris Squire. Pete's musical journey has taken him through several genres, from straight-ahead jazz to thrash metal and everything in between. Says Pete: "Diversity is the key.
