Jazz And Blues Bands Hit the Street

A range of top New Zealand Jazz and Blues bands hit the street, the beach and perform on stages at the iconic Mission Bay Jazz and Blues Streetfest 10th anniversary event, on Saturday 27th February.

Auckland's most famous city beach will host more than 20 bands and expects to entertain tens of thousands of fans at the Streetfest. This year the event sees headliner acts including Tama Waiapara, Late 80's Mercedes, and Streetfest favourites Recliner Rockers and Stingray and the Blues Allstars playing to the anticipated large crowds.

Entertainment Director, Ayliss Ripley said "that the iconic event brings the Mission Bay waterfront alive with great bands playing live to large crowds. Features of the Streetfest this year include the'big band battleground" where bands made up of up to 20 musicians and vocalists will battle it out against each other, a new Latin Quarter where the spirit of Latin dance and music will embrace and a range of buskers that will play to crowds on the beach. "

There are two main performance stages at the Streetfest, one near the famous Mission Bay Fountain and one on Mission Bay Beach. Tamaki Drive will be closed between 3:30pm and midnight allowing bands to play on the street itself.

Public transport is available from Britomart in the City and a special $2 per person shuttle bus service will also operate regularly from 5pm around a circuit encompassing St Heliers, Kohimarama, Orakei and Mission Bay.
