| Teen Quartet Says Rock-n-Roll Dream Is Their Destiny The fiery rock foursome Duran, Caitlin, Ben and Carly- better known as Kicking Daisies- first jammed together about a year ago. "It might have not sounded good, but it felt great, " says Ben, lead guitarist. So they practiced hard, played shows, met musicians and songwriters. Only a year later and the quartet is recording their debut album with GRAMMY award-winning producer Mike Mangini (Jonas Brothers, Joss Stone) and playing shows for hundreds of fans. Caitlin Kalafus is already an accomplished drummer at 16. She's endorsed by Gretsch Drums, her instructional videos have received over a million hits on YouTube and she has performed at the NAMM convention. But she's also a budding songwriter; "Masquerade" is her first original composition. "It's about a girl who refuses to dress like everyone else. "She's got a bunch of tattoos and crazy hair but she knows who she is. It's saying, to be different is not a crime, " she explains. write your comments about the article :: © 2010 Jazz News :: home page |
