SUGO Music: Celebrating 25 Years of Artistry from Around the World!

SUGO Music announced a new line of dazzling Dance & Ballroom albums that are sure to get your foot tappin' and your body movin'. Dancing has regained tremendous momentum this year. Fox's hit TV show So You Think You Can Dance has been nominated for five Emmy Awards this year already. With Valentine's Day quickly approaching, Sugo Music has released two scintillating ballroom dance collections just in time for the most romantic day of the year.

Reviews have been great! Big Fish Media of Los Angeles, CA. calls them "The best Ballroom Dance collections on the scene today; there's such a wide variety of instrumentation, styles and performances"!

The first is the Ultimate Ballroom Collection, featuring an array of styles including Tango, Rumba, Mambo, Bossa Nova, Samba, and Jive. Many of the featured tracks are played widely in professional dance competitions and everyday training. The second collection is a series of Ballroom & Slow Dance Classic compilations. Notable artists include Eric Marienthal, Sandi Patty, Stevan Pasero, Amerimambo & Janis Siegel. Both collections are perfect for listening or finding your dance groove.

The musical range on these unprecedented dance collections are so vast that each album can move you to dance or also serve as the perfect back drop for most lifestyle activities: Tango for cocktails, Mambo for cooking, Splendor for dining, or Bossa Nova for chillin'.

Stevan Pasero is known worldwide as one of the most influential and versatile musicians/producers of the past 3 decades. Guitar aficionados love him, fans around the world are loyal to his music, critics praise his musicianship & studio productions, while his recordings have sold over 10 million copies. Mr. Pasero is featured on numerous recordings, has transcribed over 30 major symphonic works, produced more than 300 studio recordings & has composed well over 1000 pieces for solo and ensemble. WOW! Here is what Stevan had to say when we caught up with him between writing for his new album, performing and producing:

What artist(s) have influenced you the most?
"Well, that's a long story, yet I grew up listening to 60's rock n roll like Clapton, Hendrix & the Beatles. As time passed, I slipped more into jazz and classical with artists like Chick Corea, Segovia, Paco de Lucia, John Williams, Baden Powell, Piazzolla, Vicente Amigo, Miles..."

Tell us more about Sugo Music's new Ballroom Dance albums that you produced. "Wow, what a fun project! The collection is 15 CDs (and more to come), so there was a lot of studio time involved. I still recall many of the LA sessions with all these monster cats from the hottest Latin bands from around the world. We were all stuffed into this Burbank studio for a week, tracking the most infectious Latin dance music imaginable. We recorded 60 songs! We were editing arrangements, re-scoring parts, dancing in the hallways, and encouraging the guys to stretch out on the tunes. Soon after, more tracks from other sessions were added to top off this one-of-a-kind collection..." READ MORE

If you were not a musician, what type of career would you have pursued?
"Hmmm...a writer"

What are you currently listening to these days? What is your iPod mix? "Jobim, Astrud Gilberto, Wes Montgomery. John Lennon, Marley, Juanjo Dominguez, Kenny Burrell, Robin Nolan. Koko Taylor, Wes Montgomery, Stevie Ray, Nitin Sawhney, Caetano Veloso, Trio Garufa, Nacho Sotomayor, Nina Simone, Kazuhito Yamashita, Pickpocket Ensemble, Ray Brown, Amerimambo, Frederic Rousseau, Jesus & Paco Leon, Bajofondo, Thievery Corp, Berroguetto.."
