Solomonoff is a self taught singer, songwriter, and producer who comes from a diverse family background. Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York to a Haitian Caribbean mother and a Russian Polish Jewish father, JeanPaul fell in love with music at an early age. His musical tastes were strongly influenced by his parents' record collection of Motown, Stax, Doo Wop, and Beatles albums. While producing his debut album, JeanPaul decided to recruit musicians from Washington Square Park and Greenwich Village. The musicians were self taught, passionate and possessed a love and understanding of music. After putting his band together and recording demos, they began performing at coffeehouses and music venues such as the Bitter End, Baggot Inn, Think Coffee, the Cutting Room, Kenny's Castaway, and others all over the village. The positive response from his audience encouraged Jean Paul to go further with his music. With the help of Adrian Harpham and Butch Dillon, his co-producers, he completed his debut album, "Introducing Jean Paul." Before completing this project he was a member of the Latin R&B pop group VOZ, and was signed to a licensing deal with Rock Records Asia which led to a highly successful multi-country Asian tour. After touring, he signed an artist development production deal with Interscope Records, but when the record deal fell through he stayed on board to produce, write and arrange for a number of recording artists. JeanPaul's single, "Eyes for You", will be available on iTunes Feb 14, 2010 followed by his debut album, "Introducing Jean Paul", featuring special guest Monty Alexander. In addition to the single and album, fans can experience the music video for his song, "Damaged", also from the debut album. "Damaged", which was written, produced, and directed by JeanPaul, has been selected for exhibition at the San Diego 2010 Black Film Festival as well as international film festivals in Egypt and Thailand. write your comments about the article :: © 2010 Jazz News :: home page |
