| Nat Reeves on "Getting To Know You" w/Susan McCray World renowned bass player Nat Reeves will be Susan McCray's special guest on "Getting To Know You" Tuesday, January 19 at 6:30 p.m. PT and ET on internet radio station KSAV.org. Mr. Reeves has primarily performed with the great Jackie McLean throughout the world and appears on five of Mr. McLean's recordings. In 1995, Mr. Reeves appears on Kenny Garrett's last recording released in 1997, Songbook produced by Warner Bros. and was nominated for a Grammy. Mr. Reeves has played at all the major jazz festivals throughout the world; at Lincoln Center; and appears on over 20 recordings. During his career, Mr. Reeves has performed with many great musicians such as Randy Johnston, Cari Alien, Hotep Galeta, Arthur Taylor, Waiter Davis, Donald Byrd, Wynton Marsalis, Rene McLean, Steve Davis, Roy Hargrove, David Hazeltine, Kenny Kirkland and Jeff Watts It was in 2001 that Nat decided to focus full-time on his teaching career at The Hartt School. By this time, the University of Hartford had renamed the African American Music Studies Program to the Jackie McLean Institute of Jazz. Today, Nat is committed to perpetuating Jackie McLean's legacy at The Hartt School, as well as continuing his career performing. Influenced most by bassists Sam Jones, Paul Chambers and Ron Carter, Nat is a gifted musician, who can be seen performing in every major jazz venue in the world.
