| The Chris Greene Quartet Brings Smooth Jazz to Chicagoland Warm up your winter with a little smooth jazz from the group that's heating up the clubs all over Chicagoland – The Chris Greene Quartet. "Our shows have been becoming more popular and we are excited to bring some classic smooth jazz for the new decade to people all over Chicago, " said Chris Greene, tenor and soprano saxophone player for the quartet. The group recently released its new album entitled "Merge" earning accolades and great reviews from jazz fans all over the area. "The Chris Greene Quartet's third CD, Merge, is this group's best yet, " said Brad Walseth with ChicagoJazz.net. "The confidence and cohesion just gets better every time out." Listening to "Merge" a jazz fan finds a lively up tempo beat with a generous mix of sax, drums and keyboards playing off each others in a semi-jam style album. Listening to the music features the polished sounds of a band that has been playing together for some time, yet still mixes in some fun improvisation and a couple of smooth soul references that makes classic jazz an art. "We really push for some interaction between the different sounds of the instruments in this album, " Greene said. "We are really extending our music to new levels in smooth jazz art and creativity factors." The Chris Greene Quartet features local musicians Chris Greene on tenor and soprano saxophone; Damian Espinosa on primarily acoustic piano and occasionally on electric keyboard; Marc Piane on acoustic bass; and Tyrone Blair on the drums. Their latest album "Merge" is available for $9.99 at Dusty Groove America store in Chicago at 1120 North Ashland; CDBaby.com; Amazon.com and even downloadable for your iPod on iTunes. They will also be performing their first gig of 2010 at Horseshoe Casino in Hammond, Ind. inside of Vintage 51 at 6 p.m. on Sunday, January 3 as part of the "Sunday Night Jazz Series" sponsored by Smooth Jazz 87.7 FM. write your comments about the article :: © 2010 Jazz News :: home page |
