| The Beehive Presents Jason Lindner’s“Now Vs. Now” "The Jason Lindner Project" - comprised of awe inspiring collection of young, multicultural musicians (including the highly acclaimed pianist, Jason Lindner, Mark Guiliana and Panayotis Andereou) will perform for the first time in Boston at The Beehive. On January 17, 2009. The trio will debut Lindner's new album "Now vs. Now, " conveying a global message of peace through non-violence. Based out of New York City, the band is arguably the hippest and most exciting assembly in the New York City music scene. The album Now Vs.Now is a collaboration of artists produced by Meshell Ndegeocello featuring an eclectic mix of poetry beat-box by Baba Israel, famed trumpeter Avishai Cohen and saxophonist Anat Cohen. Also, Kurt Rosenwinkel performs on guitar and Meshell Ndegeocello is featured as a vocalist throughout the album. "The skill sets and abilities of these musicians are profound. Therefore they have the sensibilities to explore all genres of music while pushing boundaries. These extremely talented jazz musicians are exploring everything from rap to beat boxes, electric music, and rock…fusing genres with pop. They are expanding people's notions of what music is all about….it's what Miles Davis did in the 50's, 60's and 70s" – Bruce Ferrara, Music Director of The Beehive Pianist, composer, multi-keyboardist, band-leader and arranger, Jason Lindner, born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, was a natural musician with an ear for music at a very early age. At the age of seven, Lindner began formal piano studies, followed by guitar, saxophone, flute, bass and drums. Lindner began his professional career performing at local galleries as well as in the great performance halls of Carnegie and Lincoln Center. Lindner sites his most influential teachers into his early 20's as Barry Harris and Chris Anderson. He accredits his success to the guidance of his mentors in the New York jazz community - Barry, Chris, Frank Hewitt, Jimmy Lovelace, Tommy Turrentine, C Sharpe, Junior Cook, Junior Mance, Jackie Byard to name a few. With technical expertise and knowledge from the masters, Lindner with "Now Vs Now" is creating music which transcends definition and time. "...one of the most impressive big bands to emerge in years...filled with declarative themes, recurring motifs and varying temperaments that range from elegant balladry to body-rocking grooves." - JazzTimes Magazine "Rhythm provides more than a heartbeat for the pianist Jason Lindner… Mr. Lindner seems only partly interested in jazz's idiomatic customs. What matters to him is groove, however it comes." - New York Times Don't miss this exciting performance for one night only at The Beehive!
