| "A Soldier Never Dies" Single and Video Released On the hills of President Obama's announcement about the deployment of additional troops to Afghanistan, rapper Invinceable, alongside R&B crooner Jon B and super producer Battlecat, have released their touching homage, a single and video entitled "A Soldier Never Dies." The new video release is a heart tugging tribute to the memory of Invinceable's cousin, slain Marine Anthony Hector Vargas. Anthony Hector Vargas is a Marine who lost his life in the streets shortly after returning home from battle in Iraq. At 20 years old, Vargas was a proud Marine, wanting only to defend his country. After serving seven months in Iraq during Operation Iraqi Freedom he was to be deployed to Afghanistan. Just a few short weeks after returning home on leave however, blocks from his residence, he was tragically killed in a senseless street fight. In an incident that rocked his Redland, CA community, the nation mourned. Be it the war in Iraq or the war on the streets our young men and women seem to be dying at an alarming rate. "Hip hop is our voice, " explains Invinceable about his debut release. "And for our voice to remain relevant, our music must echo the times. Young men and women across the country are being deployed to fight the war against terror. In the meantime, the young men and women left behind are battling an entirely different war that involves terror in our very own streets. When I lost my cousin Anthony Vargas, I lost a part of me. But a Soldier Never Dies. He or she lives on in our hearts and in this case in song. I am proud to offer this tribute song and video to our troops and to their families." The video for "A Soldier Never Dies" reenacts the short life and times of Anthony Hector Vargas, including a war battle scene in Iraq, interior bunker shots at a Marine camp, his death and funeral. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of the single will benefit the Anthony Vargas Organization, a foundation being established by Vargas' mother, Henrietta Han. The foundation will work to send care packages to our troops. Invinceable will perform at his record release party in Los Angeles on Friday, December 18 at 9:00 p.m., at the Highlands Hollywood with Battlecat and MC Magic. The Hollywood Highlands is located at 6801 Highland Blvd., Ste. 433 in Hollywood, CA. Tickets are half price for military. write your comments about the article :: © 2009 Jazz News :: home page |
