| Musicians Institute Teams with Grammy Museum f Proudly continuing their fruitful and dynamic collaborative association, Musicians Institute and the Grammy Museum are sponsoring a series of "MI-style" hands-on interactive classes specially designed for LA Unified School District's high school, middle school and elementary school students. The classes are taught by MI instructors and held onsite at the Grammy Museum's state of the art performance venue. The contemporary music education-oriented courses will run through May 2010 and cover such diverse topics as "Aural History of the Blues, " "Experimental Sound Design, " "Music Business Strategies, " "Drum Looping with Ableton Live" and more. "Mixing, Producing and Sampling, " taught by MI instructor and highly successful producer Darryl Swann, was the first class offered in the MI/Grammy Museum program series in early December. Over 200 very enthusiastic students were able to participate by creating brand new "beats" together from vinyl disks, student rapping, and beat-boxing-all masterfully mixed by Swann, whose credits include Mos Def, Black Eyed Peas and Macy Gray. Since 1977, Musicians Institute (MI) has trained thousands of graduates for careers in every genre of contemporary music. From the beginning, MI revolutionized music education with hands-on, intensive, performance-based programs taught by working professionals. Today, MI's unique, innovative approach includes degree and certificate programs for career-minded guitarists, bassists, drummers, vocalists, keyboardists, audio engineers, independent artists, guitar makers, music business professionals and filmmakers. write your comments about the article :: © 2009 Jazz News :: home page |
